In the following weeks you will learn about the Selection and Transformation tools in Painter 12, creating and using a Layer mask, the new system for creating and using Custom palettes, and more.

Painter 12 has a new system for organizing, customizing, and using the various materials and tools available. For example, a palette is an object (like a file drawer) which holds two or more panels (like file folders). A panel is an object which contains materials and/or tools. Most panels also contain option menus which give you various choices related to the panel. Let’s explore this further with an example.
