Chris Price
Chris Price is an American artist currently residing in Greenwood, SC. His specialties range through both fine and commercial art as well as web design.
Beginning at an early age, he taught himself to draw and paint as a hobby and never dreamed that it would eventually become his career. During the mid-1990s, Chris discovered art created digitally using, then, simple art applications. Mouse in hand, his art began to transition from paper and canvas to a virtual canvas with an unlimited color palette. As time passed, the art programs progressed in complexity and features. Chris spent every free minute maintaining and learning the new, more complex applications. His love of digital art grew exponentially with the discovery of Wacom’s line of pen tablets and the software lines of Adobe and Corel. Finally, digital art could be created using methods very similar to the traditional skills he built earlier in life.
Along with the fine art side of his work, Chris also has specialties in advertising design, commercial art, publication layout, and web design. At the beginning of the 21st century, he owned a small publishing company that produced several local magazines and also a small art studio that launched his career as an artist. Since then, he has dropped the publishing company preferring to focus strictly on art and design. His small studio has expanded into a complete custom art studio where he uses all of his knowledge to produce artistic solutions for clients across a wide array of subjects and artistic disciplines. Chris is also a regular contributor to the Official Corel Painter Magazine by Imagine Publishing Ltd. as well as several digital art forums and user groups across the Internet.
As an instructor at Digital Art Academy, he hopes to be able to instill a little of his past experience and knowledge to help create the next generation of digital artists as the medium becomes more important in this high tech age we live in.
