Elaina Moore-Kelly
Elaina lives in Florida with her husband, her 2 cockatiels, and various finches. After spending 15 years at IBM, she never expected to have a computer in her own home, but in 1997 her husband decided he wanted to be “plugged in” and he bought a MacIntosh with a whopping 32 megabytes of RAM. He finally convinced Elaina to give it a try and she was immediately hooked, but soon got tired of sharing, so she bought a PC for herself and got a free version of PrintMaster with it.
Once she followed the instructions and created her first greeting card, Elaina decided she loved computer graphics. She tried several other printing programs and finally settled on The Print Shop. While making her own cards, she also began creating her own graphics and became a Paint Shop Pro junkie, and finally began writing her own PSP tutorials. Eventually, Elaina became a Beta tester for the Jasc corporation prior to the sale of the corporation to Corel.
As her interest in computer graphics grew, Elaina discovered the exciting world of Corel Painter. She had dabbled in art from time to time for many years but was always annoyed by “having to clean brushes” and all the mess that entailed. After taking several classes on using Painter, she realized she had discovered the perfect vehicle for her artistic ambitions. She began using the program to draw and paint from scratch, and at last was able to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming an “artiste”. Elaina was a Beta tester on both Corel Painter X and Corel Painter 11, and hopes to be chosen as a tester again in the future.
She has been teaching beginner students how to use Corel Painter since August of 2008, but after learning the basics of using Painter for digital painting, she became curious about what else the program could do and she began exploring other features available in the program. These explorations eventually led to the concepts being taught in the “Creative Collage – Scrap techniques with Painter class”.
Elaina says, “I never seem to have enough time to do the many the things I’m interested in, but I never get tired of trying to do them all.”
