Biography - Les Meehan
Les Meehan is a highly qualified professional image maker with more than 25 years experience in the media world. He has extensive knowledge of photography in both the commercial world of advertising and the fine-art world of personal work, exhibitions and selling prints.
As a natural born teacher he is highly qualified with college teaching experience. He enjoys conducting workshops and courses and really enjoys working with other creative folk in an exciting learning environment. “It is so stimulating to be involved with people actually using their creativity to express their ideas and feelings”.
Prior to his professional imaging career he started as a computer programmer, after studying computer science and mathematics at university. “The combination of computer skills and visual acumen means that I have always been passionate about digital imaging in all its forms.” As a photographer he enjoys the creative freedom we now enjoy using digital techniques with such great programs as Painter, Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, and Poser.
Les is the author of six practical digital books and one on traditional photography. In recent years he moved into the area of traditional Art by developing his drawing skills. He conducts workshops based on the methods developed by Dr. Betty Edwards, a genius in the education of Art, and he loves to see people’s reaction when they learn to draw!
Les shared his philosophy of teaching with us at Digital Art Academy and summed it up saying: “While a student learns from a good teacher, a good teacher also learns from the student. Hence, we both grow!”
