Using Reference Photos

An idea is the foundation of any painting.

Your painting's potential increases with the strength of the idea. A complicated concept is not necessary. It could be as straightforward as an eye-catching play of light and shadow. However, it must be powerful enough that you will want to paint it. You must be able to visualize the finished painting when using reference photos.
